Is Selling Evil? Joe Polish Network MarketingIs selling evil? Selling, sales and sales people have clearly got a bad rap. But is it the selling itself that's evil, or is it the slimy tactics employed by sales people under the gun to meet a quota that have given selling a bad name?

We think it's the latter. In fact, think about the last time you took a friend's recommendation on a restaurant. Did you feel pressured? Or did you feel excited to try a new place your friend thought was amazing?

Chances are you were grateful for the recommendation and looked forward to the meal, in anticipation of a great experience.

In this case, your friend “sold” you on the restaurant, but it was an entirely enjoyable experience!

Are you in network marketing? If so we've got news for you… your products don't sell themselves. If they did, companies wouldn't pay commissions. That's what commissions are for – to compensate people for selling products.

Without a Sale there is No Transformation

That's why it's so important to change your mindset when it comes to selling – to understand that until a sale happens, there is no transformation.

In today's episode, we discuss one simple thing you can do differently to make your products ALMOST sell themselves, and address the question… “is Selling evil?”

We've also included Joe Polish's famous video “Is Selling Evil?” below for your viewing pleasure.

Is Selling Evil? By Joe Polish

If you're looking for success in network marketing – or any business for that matter – you need to learn to embrace selling. You need to learn to love the process of educating and inspiring your potential clients until they have enough information to say “YES” to themselves, and to you.

The simple truth is your products and services cannot, and do not make a positive impact on anyone until someone says yes and purchases the product . So if you're not willing to “sell,” how is anyone's life going to change?

Are You Ready to Make a Difference in the World [pilotpress_field name='First Name']?

We believe that you have something amazing to offer to the world, a product or service that can transform people's lives. It's your responsibility to get that message to the people who need it… to give them the information they need to say “yes.”

In a nutshell… you're going to have to sell to make a difference.

Is selling evil? We think not.

  1. Thank you for adding Joe Polish’s video into the blog post. He mentioned an important point that I know is a serious problem for buyers. “People love selling… but hate pressure.” What I have seen as bad marketing is usually pressure (either stemming from inside issues, outside forces, or intrapersonal problems) replacing good selling skills. More often than not, the most unhappy customers I hear are ones who regret their purchase and did not know how to leave the selling atmosphere. Then again, one of the horror stories I’ve heard was an associate at a popular retailer who sold the store card so hard that he could get customers to cry, break down, and/or leave the department fuming.

Realizing my love and talent for marketing has been hard because I have seen “selling”, which is a poor explanation for bullying within a purchasing environment – a place where most customers ARE vulnerable. For a long time I thought businesses and marketing were fifty shades of bad, but now I know better. It just makes me feel bad for the organizations who had that person who created such a poor selling experience for so many people. Well, at least I will do my best to create a safe environment for those wary customers to feel comfortable with selling again without dealing with a bully.
