The Importance of Having a Sales Funnel

The basic questions entrepreneurs need to ask themselves when thinking of marketing their product or service is this: How can I promote what I am selling? What will draw people in and make them buy something from me?

For an online business, no matter what you have to offer – an amazing idea or service, a superb book, or an unbelievably great product – if you don’t have a working sales funnel, it’s not going to sell as fast as you thought it would. A sales funnel is fundamental in marketing your online business. It's easy to set up because of all the advancements in technology. There's no reason why you can't set it up.

Both Dawn and Traci have implemented sales funnels in their respective businesses and they’ve also help set it up for their clients. True enough, they were able to achieve great outcomes because of it. Regardless of the kind of business you have, you’ll find that a sales funnel can make a huge difference in your profitability.

People and Spending

People have this inert psychological mindset of spending. Even if they go to a place with no initial intention to shop, they’re likely to buy something, especially if it is marketed and promoted well. So you have to be creative and find ways to get them to buy your product or services, or whatever it is that you are selling.

Selling Your Products and Services

For example, you’re only thinking about 1 single product to sell, or you may have this idea that that’s the only thing you can sell. That’s quite okay, but on the downside, you've lost out on a lot of potential additional profit. How so? Remember that someone who has spent money with you once is highly likely to buy from you again on a related item. But if you really don't have anything else to sell, just that one product, you can be creative and offer some kind of loyalty discount or bundles/packages that both you and the customer can benefit from.

If you can get a person to make their first transaction with you, no matter how big or small that transaction was, it changes the relationship between you and that person because now they've are slowly trusting you with their money.

Scouring the Competition

One of the best ways to have an effective sales funnel, is through spying on the competition! Yes, you read it right. You have to know what’s out there and how other similar companies or businesses are doing it. You should go through their sales funnel. You'll probably spend a few bucks to buy the product, but you'll get valuable information you can use to make your own sales funnel. If you don't buy the product, you won’t see how they follow up or do things. You can’t expect to only look at their lead sales capture page and their opt ins and know everything.

We’re not saying you copy what others have done. You just simply MODEL it. With a little tweaking and  reverse engineering, you’ll have a wicked awesome sales funnel in place.

Here are a few tips for home based business owners on how they can create a sales funnel:

  • Create your own lead magnet and be sure to think of what knowledge could you impart that can change people's lives.
  • Sell an ecourse so they will know, like, and trust you.
  • Let people learn that you are the source for information on this product/service.
  • For network marketers, create your own front end piece to grow a list and your business.
  • Niche down so that you’ll have fewer competitors.
