In anything in life, you’ll always do better if you have the right mindset! For entrepreneurs and business owners, a marketing mindset is key to a successful business. Marketing, without a doubt, works! But many don’t know how to make it work for them primarily because they don’t have the right mindset for it. They don’t understand what it takes to be able to build and market a business long term.
In this episode of the Social Media Marketing Happy Hour, Dawn and Traci give you some tips and tricks that can help you develop the right marketing mindset. They’ll share some key mindsets around advertising, creating sales funnels, email marketing and more.
First of all, think about what you would answer to these questions…
- Is your business growing at a snail’s pace?
- Do you have the right mindset to grow your business?
- Are you somebody who’s always focused on just “free”?
- Are you putting enough time and energy in your marketing campaigns?
Just by answering these simple questions, you’ll be able to determine whether or not you HAVE or you LACK the mindsets necessary in building a solid marketing strategy that will eventually lead to your business’ success.
Let’s talk about some of the mindsets we’ve acquired throughout the years. Developing these mindsets have definitely helped us get better and better in marketing our business.
Don’t give up so easily. When you start doing something like Facebook Advertising, around 8 out of 10 of the campaigns that you run are most likely going to fail. It’s hard when we want something to succeed and it doesn’t turn out the way we hoped it would. A lot give up easily and move on to something else.
Be courageous enough to put your money where your mouth is and follow through. When you have a good offer and as you start to dial in your offer and have something that your audience and your avatar’s are really going to love, go for it! Don’t stop halfway, especially when you think it’s not going to work out, that is actually the big bump you have to overcome to get to the brighter side.
Be patient and tweak around until you get it. Facebook collects over 2000 data points, and when you start to run ads, it will collect data points on whose responding to your ads. If you have consistency, the better Facebook will get to serve your ad to the right people. You have to go into Facebook knowing you won’t have instant success. The more you advertise, the better they deliver your stuff.
Take a linear path. For example, if you’re working on building a sales funnel, you have to work on one system first. Create yourself a fully functioning sales funnel with a lead magnet and when everything is all set up and running smoothly, you can move on to another process or system.
Begin with the end in mind. This is another effective mindset that has proven to be quite effective. You start by pinpointing what the ultimate outcome would be. You go from there and work backwards. When you see the end, you can easily work backwards and put in the steps to achieve the goal. Just like in building a sales funnel, start from the back end. If you are using a flow chart, like Lucidcharts, you go from right to left.
Take your energy level up a notch or two. You should always sound excited about what you are doing or teaching. Like in making videos for marketing or content, many are challenged by this endeavor because they lack the energy and the right attitude to do it. They end up sounding boring or robotic. Even Dawn admits to being like this when they first started podcasting. Delivering the right emotion and excitement will help magnetize people to you.
Pick the thing that you want to be great at and master it. If you don’t feel like you’re great at something, just keep on doing it until you get there. It’s a progression and you slowly become more confident, skilled, and knowledgeable. Just so you know, you will not have it right the first time, but with practice and experience, you’ll get better and better at it. Both Dawn and Traci keep on leveling up their knowledge and expertise by attending conferences, trainings, coaching sessions and more. Right now, Dawn is mastering Ontraport and Traci with Facebook Ads.
Whatever it is that you do, just spend more time mastering it and always tell yourself this: “I’m gonna be the best at…” – that is what will set you apart from the rest!
The right mindset in creating sales funnels, ads, and email sequences will make it easier for you to know where you want to take people and will ultimately help direct the path towards where your business is heading.
