What do you do when you get leads and how do you nurture them? After you’ve run traffic, start getting leads, and written a few emails in your autoresponder, what’s your next move?
In this episode of the Social Media Marketing Happy Hour, Dawn and Traci share a strategy to continue to nurture those leads so that you increase your chances of them becoming your customers.
It's a challenge in itself for entrepreneurs to capture leads. But what's even more challenging is making sure those leads are nurtured to increase your profit and your success in sales and in your business overall. For example, a person clicks on your ad, gets on your list, but you don't have proper follow up, or perhaps it takes so long for you to send a follow-up email, enough for them to forget about you. This scenario often happens to many who don't know what to do with their leads.
On average, only 2% of the people buy the first time they saw something. This means that 98% of the buying happens later. So how do you make sure you don't lose the 98%?
Here are a few ways you can do that:
Instead of thinking of email as a linear path, think of it in a circular pattern.
For example, you still follow day 1, day 3, day 6, and so on, but if you reach day 15 and you still don't get a response, that lead will be a different list where you will talk to them about something different. Just because they didn't respond, it doesn't mean you drop them. They still might respond someday, so you keep them but they will be on another list with another email sequence. Don't hammer them with stuff
Nurture relationships through email marketing.
Use email marketing to start building a relationship with your leads. Just like any human relationship, when you deal with cold traffic, those people don't initially know who you are or what you're offering them so you have to warm them up to you first. You can start with a blog post or something. They might opt in to your lead magnet, but just because the opt in, doesn't mean they are already warm traffic. Your email follow ups is where you have the chance to create a relationship with those people and and convert them to warm traffic. You have to remember the know, like, and trust factor. You can't just hammer them with stuff without first building a relationship with them.
Give them something that will impact them in a positive way.
Whether it is to help them in their business, in life, or even just to have a better day, make it relevant and personal to them. Online marketers we have the ability help people without selling them anything. The fact is, most of the people in your list are never going to buy from you. So you have to think of ways that can impact them in a positive way. As a business owner you would wish for a sale, but firstly, you should try to reach out and touch the lives of your target audience, gain their trust, and ultimately, they will follow and buy from you.
Market to your list with ads.
Run ads to your lists to keep them engaged. For example, you can upload email addresses from your email list into Facebook and create a custom audience so that the ad copy will speak directly to your existing lead. This way, you'll be able to reach them through Facebook ads and talk to them like they are subscribers and not strangers.
Utilize tools that make it easier for you to set up your autoresponders, ads, and more.
High-end tools are not out of reach anymore. Tools like Ontraport, Infusionsoft and ActiveCampaign, to name a few. By using these tools, your mail inboxes will be more full and ads will be more targeted than they've ever been before.
