347: Happy Hour Milestone: Live on Blab.im & Our First Guest

A Happy Hour First: Live Podcast & Guest

Exciting news! Episode 347 is milestone for us! Why? Because it’s the first episode on Social Media Marketing Happy Hour’s Dawn & Traci record live with the use of a wicked awesome tool called Blab.im!  We’ve decided to try out an amazing new platform! This awesome tool allows you to add as much as four people into the conversation. And, as the show is going on, you can have live audience participation. You can use it for recording podcasts, interviews, discussions, coaching and teaching, and more!

And because this tool can do all that, we’ve decided to have our very first featured guest on Happy Hour! We couldn’t think of anyone better to be than Beauty Blogger & marketing genius, Tamira Hamilton of TamiraHamilton.com. You’ll hear her talk about how she started, how she got this far, and how she manages to stay on top of her game. We find her success story very inspiring and we hope you will too!

More on Tamira Hamilton

This amazingly talented and smart woman is one of the top beauty bloggers (although she’s modest enough not to admit it!) in her niche! She is a great mentor and an amazing marketer who works with beauty bloggers and makeup artists to help market their services on social media. What sparked her interest in this industry is when she found that a lot of people in the industry didn’t know how to monetize and boost their craft or their brand.

Yes, she has been in sales and marketing for almost 24 years now, but when she decided to mix two of the things she is very passionate about – marketing and making people look and feel good – BOOM! She was able to build an amazing business with a spot on marketing strategy while successfully monetizing her passion.

Here are a few of Tamira’s super awesome and very valuable tips and strategies that have effectively helped her get to where she is now:
  • First of all, you must realize that there is no better time than now (no matter what business it is) to be able to make a business out of it and create an income stream. If you are passionate about something, capitalize on that!
  • You have to be that person people want to pay attention to. Like on Facebook, you’d want to let people put you on the top of their feed. You've got to go into a more specific niche where you know exactly who you are talking to.
  • Tamira built her business around content curation and created a marketing strategy with Instagram. You don’t necessarily need to have original content, but whatever you use, it has to be relevant to your business.
  • We asked her how she is able to stand out in spite of the beauty market being very crowded. Tamira says it’s important to have originality. You have to figure out what it is that you can uniquely bring to your customers.

“It doesn’t matter how many can do it, no one else can do it the way you do it!” – Tamira Hamilton

  • Define your customer avatar. This is an essential step in finding your tribe or the specific group of people you are planning to draw in. For example, when they come to Tamira's Instagram, they get an experience that’s relevant to them because they can relate to it.
  • Automation is good, but you have to ask help from other people as well. Don’t be afraid to bring in new team members to help. You can also invest in a Virtual Assistant, it will definitely free your hands for more important stuff in your business.
  • Make the laptop or your mobile phone the kitchen table. Show people how to onboard and show them how to set up things. When you show people step by step what to do, and make things easier for them, they will come for more as they slowly see how much you’ve given.
  • Build on one platform first and wait for it to build up before you start using another platform. Facebook is her hub and she  believes it's the number one way to let people like and trust. Tamira personally likes to use video content through Periscope too. We agree that it’s a very effective way to build a tribe.

Be sure to listen to the whole podcast to hear more tips (that are probably not mentioned on this post)  from Tamira, Dawn, and Traci!
