339: Creating Content Worthy of Traffic

Tips to Create Valuable Content

Hey Happy Hour listeners! The month of September is at an end and it’s a great time to evaluate how your business is doing. Are you hitting your goals for your business? If you are, congratulations! But if you’re not quite there yet, don’t worry. You still have the last quarter to focus on achieving them. One way of making sure you drive more traffic to your business and getting the sale is by creating valuable content!

In this episode of Social Media Marketing Happy Hour, Dawn and Traci share how you can create the kind of content that is worthy to send traffic to. The kind of content that has value and addresses a problem, a need, or a desire of your specific target group.

Tips to get you started in creating valuable content:

  • Create content that's geared towards solving a problem. When we talk about content, it MUST be VALUABLE. But what does having value really mean? In every business, we all know that it solves some kind of a problem. Ask yourself if what you are offering can solve a specific problem.
  • Create valuable content but incomplete. Provide enough information that begins to solve a person's problem. However, you should not complete it because the completion happens when that person enters into business with you and buys your product or services. Try to provide great value so that they want to continue and come back to consume whatever it is that you're offering.
  • Give content has enough information to get some kind of change or result in their life. This means that you have to let them get a result. To see/experience is to believe, after all. For example, in last week's episode, we talked about sending traffic to blog content. Dawn talked about sending it to invisible audiences and send ads to those people in particular. We provided value and solved some problems, but it wasn't complete because we didn't share how to create invisible audiences.
  • Send cold traffic to great content that’s free. By having free, engaging, and traffic-worthy content, you are giving people the opportunity to get to know you and your business better. When they indulge in it and get some value there, they can then decide if they want to take the next step in the relationship and become your client or customer.
  • Give content that's valuable enough for people to see that you know about what you're talking about. Even if they decide not to buy from you, you've successfully given them something of value that can help them solve their problem, meet their need, or fulfill their desire. You’ve put some good will out into the marketplace.
  • Create content that people will want to share with others. This is what you should strive for. You have to create content worthy of traffic. In order to do this, you have to ask yourself: Is my content good enough for them to share it with someone else? When people come across something they think is valuable, share it with their family and friends, especially if they think those people can relate and can benefit from it just like they did. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for the share.
  • Make content with specific actionable items that are sure to achieve results. Try to be as original and specific as possible. You can have FAQs, Lists, How To's – these have proven to be very effective. When people follow your content and take the actions you suggested, and when they see positive results, they’ll want more from you!

Remember, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. Don’t settle for mediocre. Try your best to produce top of the line content, whether it's a blog, podcast, video, images, and more. People will usually think that if you have so much value for free, your paid stuff has got to be epic!
